Frequently asked questions

How do I write page ranges?

Use commas between parts and a dash for ranges, for example 1-3, 5, 9-12. “8-” means page 8 to the end.

What is the difference between “Split by ranges” and “Extract pages”?

Split by ranges makes one file per range. Extract pages puts all the pages you list into a single new PDF.

Is Split PDF free?

Yes. Split PDF is free to use with no sign-up and no watermark.

Are my files uploaded to your server?

No. All processing happens locally in your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. Your files never leave your device, which also makes it fast and private.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. It works in any modern browser on Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and iPhone. Very large files may be slow on older phones.
